This system assembles & fastens three (3) large metal components into a single housing. The system integrates material handling, decoiling, press forming and fastening technologies.
Two (2) and three (3)-sided pre-stamped parts are fed into the system via a cleated inbound conveyor. The parts are picked up by a 6-axis robot, tool-formed into the appropriate configurations, and nested together. The subassemblies are transferred via walking beam through a variety of TOX fastening systems. A third piece of sheet metal is decoiled, stamped and servo-fed into the housing subassembly, positioning it for subsequent joining operations. The final assembly is off-loaded onto a roller conveyor.
Advanced guarding features, including a 3-position enabling device, are provided throughout this system, to allow full access to the integrated joining and press forming systems.
