Isthmus Engineering & Manufacturing has everything you need under one roof. Approximately half of our workforce are Engineers; many with decades of experience in custom automation.

Mechanical Design

Our mechanical engineers use SOLIDWORKS 3D solid modeling to facilitate their designs. With over 15 years of experience with this design technology, we have realized the benefits of the effectiveness of solid modeling in custom machine building.

Controls Design

The controls packages for our applications are designed, manufactured and qualified in-house. This allows for the most effective integration with the mechanical features of the machinery. We are accustomed to meeting a wide variety of customer specifications and standards (UL, NFPA 79, NEC, etc.).

Safety Design

Isthmus performs a hazard-based Safety Risk Assessment with the aid of custom risk assessment software. The appropriate safety strategies are applied to the machine design to comply with current governing standards.

Documentation

The documentation packages for our machines are complete and include:

• PLC source code
• Electrical schematics (AUTOCAD)
• Operator interface programs and screens
• Vendor literature
• Operators manuals
• Engineering drawings (SolidWorks)

During design, the Project Manager continues to work with the Applications Engineer to ensure project continuity. The technicians who will build the machine become involved in the design phase as well.
